Classifying Moving Objects as Rigid or Non-rigid without Correspondences
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper presents a method for classifying moving objects as rigid or non-rigid based on the similarity of their appearance over multiple frames. This classiication is performed by using an image of the object obtained earlier in the video sequence and examining the uc-tuation in the similarity between this reference image and subsequent images of the object. To do this, we use a representation similar to that used by others to characterize the periodicity of an object's appearance. The hypothesis is that the appearance of rigid objects, under viewing conditions similar to orthographic projection, changes much more slowly than that of most non-rigid animate objects. The resulting algorithm is amenable to real-time on-line implementation .

A Volumetric Approach for Merging Range Images of Semi-Rigid Objects Captured at Different Time Instances
This paper presents an algorithm for registering range images of semi-rigid objects obtained by a single stereoscopic camera at different time instances. The stereo camera is intrinsically calibrated but its external position needs not to be tracked. In the preprocessing step, the input stereoscopic sequence is used to compute depth range images for all frames, as well as sparse 3D features tha...
متن کاملFactorization-based Non-rigid Shape Modeling and Tracking in Stereo-Motion
In recent years, researchers have tackled the topic of augmenting “structure from motion” with stereo information. Unfortunately nearly all stereo-motion algorithms assume that the scene is rigid. In [16] the factorization-based structurefrom-motion method for rigid objects was proposed, and soon it was extended to non-rigid or deformable objects in [17]. In this paper we propose a framework of...
متن کاملA Projective Framework for Scene Segmentation in the Presence of Moving Objects
Given a sequence of pairs of images gathered with an uncalibrated stereo camera pair and given a set of point-to-point correspondences between these image pairs, we describe a method that segments the observed scene into static and moving objects while it rejects badly matched points. Unlike many approaches which were suggested in the past, the method allows for both motion of the camera pair (...
متن کاملCorrespondence-free Synchronization and Reconstruction in a Non-rigid Scene
3D reconstruction of a dynamic non-rigid scene from features in two cameras usually requires synchronization and correspondences between the cameras. These may be hard to achieve due to occlusions, wide base-line, different zoom scales, etc. In this work we present an algorithm for reconstructing a dynamic scene from sequences acquired by two uncalibrated non-synchronized fixed affine cameras. ...
متن کاملSynchronization of Two Independently Moving Cameras without Feature Correspondences
In this work, a method that synchronizes two video sequences is proposed. Unlike previous methods, which require the existence of correspondences between features tracked in the two sequences, and/or that the cameras are static or jointly moving, the proposed approach does not impose any of these constraints. It works when the cameras move independently, even if different features are tracked i...
